<script async data-pin-hover="true" defer src="//assets.pinterest.com/js/pinit.js"></script>I'm not sure if it was the leftover wine from work or the fact that rent and utilities were all due last week- rapidly dwindling my checking account, but I thought it would be a good addition to our bedroom. When I came back to the apartment with a bulky and squeaky metal piece of junk, the Man Friend shook his head and told me I was loosing my mind. That gave me all the incentive I needed to prove him wrong. (...is anyone else's relationship like this?! 😂).
The next morning as I went to work I stopped by the warehouse scrap wood dumpster (it's cleaner than it sounds, I promise...) in search of a piece of wood that would fit nicely on top. With my tape measure and dimensions handy, I found the perfect sized plywood! I dragged it home and washed it down and began digging through my seemingly endless amount of scrap fabric. I found a half yard of a beautiful bird design I snagged from Joann Fabric last Black Friday (I tend to hoard sale fabric😳) and it was the perfect width! However, it did not look that great just on top of the wood so I found some of my left over poly fill fiber from LO's Halloween costume design (pictures of that soon!) and placed a thin layer underneath.
Time to staple! I got this super fun staple gun from Amazon Prime for less than $10 AND it came with staples and a travel kit! I'm seriously obsessed with Amazon. I mean, like I think I have a problem OBSESSED. But more on that later.
Voilà!
Now the super fun step- decorating it! It has both an incredibly functional purpose of clearing up precious closet space as well as the added bonus of being able to display some of her most adorable pieces of clothing!
The best part? When the Man Friend came back from night class he was so surprised and happy about how open our closet was that he said he was sorry for ever doubting me. Talk about a win win! 🎉🎉🎉
I know it's not feasible to always expect to find something like this in your respective "Rubbish Room" (Tehehe) but I suppose the point of this post is to encourage you to use your imagination in order to repurpose free or cheap furniture. Make sure you carry measurements in your purse or baby bag for items you may discover on a walk or flea market run so you can be sure you won't waste your time or money. And most importantly- never EVER listen to your partner's doubts about your creative ability! ;)
Happy hippie hunting!

I think the little cherub is just as happy about it as I am! :)
